Owners and operators of US civilian nuclear power reactors purchased a total of 40 million pounds U3O8 equivalent (15,386 tU) of deliveries during 2018, according to the latest uranium marketing report from the US Energy Information Administration. Nearly 10% of that was US-origin uranium.
 

US utility Duke Energy has announced plans to decommission the single-unit Crystal River nuclear power plant in Florida by 2027. Decommissioning of the plant, which was permanently shut down in 2013, had originally been expected to take an additional 50 years to complete.

José Emeterio Gutiérrez will step down as president and CEO of Westinghouse on 31 July, the company has announced. Patrick Fragman, currently group senior vice president at ABB Limited, will assume the roles from 19 August.

Santee Cooper has filed a federal complaint seeking a formal declaration that it is sole owner of equipment purchased for the abandoned VC Summer nuclear power plant construction project in South Carolina. The company has also asked the court to require Westinghouse provide it with certification documentation related to the equipment.
