EDF had taken its case to the regional court relating to the tender for new nuclear in the Czech Republic.

The first Westinghouse nuclear fuel assemblies have arrived at the Dukovany Nuclear Power Plant, as the Czech Republic continues to diversify its supplies.

Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power is preparing to sign subcontract agreements and establish a project office at Dukovany after the signing of the contract to build two APR-1000 units at a project cost of CZK407 billion (USD18.6 billion). The aim is to start construction in 2029.

The contract with Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power for new nuclear capacity at the Dukovany site in the Czech Republic has been signed - hours after the Supreme Administrative Court annulled a regional court's injunction to stop it happening. 

French company EDF says the goal of its legal challenge to the decision to award the contract for new nuclear capacity in the Czech Republic to Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power is to ensure it is "in accordance with European regulatory rules".

The Czech Republic has taken delivery of the first 30 fuel assemblies for the Temelin nuclear power plant from Westinghouse as it replaces its previous supplier from Russia.

The Czech Republic's Minister of Industry and Trade Lukáš Vlček held talks with French Energy Minister Marc Ferracci and European Commissioner Stéphane Séjourné about the new nuclear planned at Dukovany, and losing bidder EDF's objections to the tender process.

The Czech Ministry of Industry and Trade has said "the courtesy letter sent by French European Commissioner Stéphane Séjourné" suggesting that the signing of the contract for new nuclear units in the country be delayed "is not legally binding".

Nine contracts and three memorandums of understanding have been signed between South Korean and Czech companies relating to the proposed new nuclear capacity planned at Dukovany.
